These are fine if you need low profile brackets. With an OMP seat, i am in the top hole on the front and second to top on the back, and the seat has insufficient recline for my desired position.
I appreciate that you make a bracket for a very old car! I used the bracket with cobra side plates and cobra nogaro seat. I am running a slider on the driver side.
I do wish the bracket was about an inch lower. The platform is about two inches high. I can’t get the seat as low as I would like and I am not even tall.
I am going to try to get the seat padding lower or I will have to take the bracket out and cut the feet down to get it lower.
I appreciate the excellent customer service. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful.
Hi Matthew,
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you appreciate the product and our customer service. We'll look into your suggestion about lowering the seat bracket, although it may not be possible to lower it and still be able to install the seat mounting bolts.
If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out!
Thank you!
I placed an order for this bracket and misunderstood the listing. I was frustrated when it arrived and initiated a return. Planted reached out to me and offered to make a custom bracket imediatly. The new bracket was delivered quickly and solved my issue. Planted has the best customer service I've recieved in a long time and the quality of my bracket is amazing. I recommend their brackets and I will be back for future needs. Thanks Planted, you guys nailed it!
Hi Vincent,
Sorry to hear you didn't like the position of our seat bracket! From your description it sounds like you are referring to the fact that the seat is not centered on the steering wheel. Instead it is shifted toward the door.
This is actually not a design flaw of our seat bracket. The OEM Z3 driver seat is also not centered on the steering wheel. BMW seats are often slightly offset from the steering wheel to optimize space for pedals and drivetrain components within the cabin, a common ergonomic design choice in many performance vehicles. This intentional 'cocked' or angled position maximizes legroom on the right side and ensures space for the transmission tunnel.
Common Reasons for the Offset:
Pedal Clearance: The transmission tunnel frequently crowds the pedal box, pushing the brake and gas pedals slightly to the left.
Drivetrain Constraints: Components behind the dash may dictate a slight angle for the steering column to fit, leaving it not perfectly aligned with the center of the seat.
Ergonomic Design: Many BMW models feature a 'pedal-and-seat' design that is slightly twisted toward the center console to improve driving comfort over long distances.
LHD vs RHD Compromise: Designing one chassis for both Left-Hand Drive (LHD) and Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles can result in compromise, leading to minor misalignment.
While some owners find this design initially uncomfortable, others report that it becomes natural, or note that it's a common 'feature' in other luxury performance cars.
We designed our Z3 seat bracket to sit very close to the transmission tunnel to allow an aftermarket seat to be as centered as possible. However, how centered the seat can be depends on how wide the aftermarket seat is and the posiiton of the wheel compared to the transmission tunnel. If the seat is installed as close to the transmission tunnel as possible, and it still not centered, the only way to center it would be to modify the seat or the transmission tunnel, to allow the seat to be moved toward the center of the car.
We would love to make a seat bracket that allows an aftermarket seat to be centered on the wheel, but unfortunately we are limited by the physical space constraints in the vehicle.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns please let us know.
Thank you!
Very nice product. Hard to find aftermarket items like this for my 67 Cutlass. Sire you can find universal, but those require modification to make work. These fit in place perfectly. GREAT JOB Planted!!!!!
Amazing quality product that fits with zero modification. I wish they offered an aluminum one because these are fairly heavy. But zero complaints!
I already purchased the driver side bracket and the quality was excellent and so was the fitment. So naturally I ordered the passenger side soon after. Everything was bolted in and down without any issues. I’m truly happy and impressed with their products and recommend Planted to anyone looking to install aftermarket seats in their vehicle.
Great quality, but the holes dont line up to the Rennline Recaro Sliders. I had to drill out the holes. Such a pain to install on my 997.1
I purchased this bracket for a 1999 honda accord ex 2.3l which is insanely hard to find seat brackets for, everything mounted up great it did a really good job of lowering my seat to the chassis, I lost approximately 2-3 inches of height. Will buy the passenger side through these guys next
ive bought these twice now for two different VW Corrado's. Never any fitment issues and install is just as you would expect. No news is good news and its one less part I have to worry about.
Item looked well made and well packaged when it arrived. I fitted the brackets to some Recaro LS-C seats. The fitment in the car was very easy - mounting point at the front for the slider pin and tabs for the seat sliders. First attempt took some trial and error on my part to make sure I'd adjusted the tabs correctly to allow both to slide easily down the rail tracks. Seat height with the brackets installed as as per OEM height - I had read some forum posts previously with some concerns but they were unfounded. I am also using Recaro double locking sliders to mount the seat to the bracket, even with those there is no height issue with headliner clearance and I'm 6ft. Overall an extremely well made and fitting seat bracket. For seatbelt mounting I used a high tensile 6/17 UNF bolt at 3/4" length, washers and a high tensile nyloc half nut to allow for clearance, with a universal 250mm wire seatbelt receiver.
