The Planted Seat Bracket is a vehicle specific bracket used as an adapter between the floor of the vehicle and an aftermarket seat and it's accessories. Because the floor of each vehicle varies and typically is not flat, a vehicle specific Seat Bracket is required for installing an aftermarket seat. We create each seat bracket using the floor of the vehicle as a reference. We literally bring each vehicle into our development center so we can create the best fitting, bolt in, universal seat bracket possible. For more specifics on installing a Planted Seat Bracket and what other components you may need please refer to our installation instructions and our Frequently Asked Questions section.
Bolt Pattern Options
Each seat bracket is pre-slotted with hole patterns to accept sliders from most major seat manufacturers like Braum, Bride*, Cipher Auto, Cobra**, Corbeau, Momo, NRG, OMP, Racetech, Recaro, Sabelt, Scheel-Mann***, Sparco, Status Racing, Takata and more. There is extra space on the bracket for drilling your own hole pattern if using a slider with a less common hole pattern, or direct mounting a seat or side mount when eliminating sliders is preferred.
We offer two different bolt pattern options:
Standard: Includes the Recaro slider bolt pattern but not the Cobra & Scheel-Mann slider bolt pattern.
Alternate: Replaces the Recaro silder bolt pattern with the Cobra & Scheel-Mann slider bolt pattern.
*Bride sliders are generally made to be vehicle specific so need to have the "feet" removed to make them "universal." Bride sliders typically require drilling a new hole pattern into the Planted Seat Bracket because they come in many different widths.
**Cobra sliders come in Narrow and Wide versions. The Wide version will require the "Alternate Bolt Pattern" option or elongating one hole on each slider by 1/8 Inch if using the "standard bolt pattern" option. The Narrow version slider requires no modification.
***Scheel-Mann sliders require the "Alternate Bolt Pattern" option or elongating one hole on each slider by 1/8 Inch if using the "standard bolt pattern" option.
Universal. Strong. Secure.
Planted Seat Brackets are laser cut from 3/16 inch thick steel and hand welded to ensure weld penetration for superior strength. They are finished with a black powder coat and applications are available for many vehicles, however Planted is continually looking for more vehicles to create brackets for. If you don't see your vehicle listed in the application guide please contact us and we'll add your vehicle to the vehicles wanted list.
Quality Assurance
Each Planted Seat Bracket goes through three levels of quality control to ensure our high standards are met.
All Planted Seat Brackets are hand welded in the USA.
We stand behind our products. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us.
Seats come in many different shapes and sizes so not all seats will fit in all vehicles. It is up to the end user to determine if the seat will fit prior to ordering the Seat Bracket and other components.
Many vehicles have the steering wheel offset toward the center of the vehicle. This can be accentuated when installing an aftermarket seat of a different size then the factory seat.
Replacing a factory seat with an aftermarket seat may cause the vehicle's warning indicators to activate. This can be due to airbag, weight and/or other sensors in the factory seat that are not included in an aftermarket seat. It may be possible to eliminate these indicators with an electronic resistor but it is up to the end user to determine if a resistor will work & which resistor to use.
Professional installation is recommended.

Doubtfull brackets for Sparco R100 seat in Mazda MX5
1. shipment to Holland was a nightmare: shipment took many weeks; VAT had to be paid and that process also took weeks; these costs all together were euro 115.
2. although the brackets fit, they are too high, too much distance from the car bottom. The result is that the Sparco R100 seats are sitting much higher than the original ones and there is no headspace left. Trouble some with a helmet.
To adapt this the brackets have to be adjusted, which is another cost of 450 euro. 3. the brackets are heavy, to lift and tilt the seat with sliders and bracket is quite something.
Karel,
Sorry to hear you were not happy with the shipping time and cost to Holland, as well as the height and weight of your seat bracket!
Unfortunatley the shipping cost, VAT and import process is out of our control. We ship using major carriers like UPS, FedEx and USPS in an effort to make international orders as seemless as possible. However, sometimes even the major carriers have delays due to weather or other unforeseen factors, so we recommend allowing for extra time when placing international orders.
As for the height of the bracket; we have made it as low as possible in the NC Miata. The rear mounting points of the seat bracket are completely flat. The only height added at the rear of the seat bracket is the thickness of the metal which is 3/8 of an inch. The height of the front of the seat bracket was set to make the seat bracket level. Unfortunately there is not way to lower the rear of the bracket, and it would not make sense to have the front of the seat bracket lower than the rear. Doing so would place the seat in an akward position with the front lower than the rear.
If a low seating position is your goal, we'd generally recommend going with a low profile seat, like a fiberglass racing shell seat, instead of a reclinable, taller seat, like the Sparco R100 you have. Most reclinable seats have a much thicker bottom cushion because they are designed more for comfort than for performance compared to a racing shell seat.
However, since you already have the R100 you might consider removing the sliders and fix mounting the seat like we describe here: https://www.plantedtechnology.com/pages/installation-instructions#answer2 Removing the sliders will lower the seat about an inch and may give you the head room you need for your helmet.
Each of our seat brackets weighs about 8 lbs. We could make them lighter if we made them in aluminum, but they'd have to be thicker to be strong enough and they would cost A LOT more! We could make them out of a thinner steel, but they would not be as strong. We have seen seat brackets made out of thinner steel and they do not hold up well in craches.
We have chosen to make our seat brackets from 3/16 inch steel to provide superior strength without breaking the bank.
We hope this information helps you better understand our products and policies. If you have any questions please let us know.
Thank you!
